The Loupe Brothers were separated at birth by an unfortunate mishap at the hospital. Decades later they reunited in Kansas City Missouri where they became self-styled movie critics in the mid 1980's. They would share large popcorn and Twizzlers while watching two movies in an afternoon during the freezing Mid-West winters.
Both avid SCUBA divers, they shared that enthusiasm in the warmer months and on separate journeys, to warmer waters during the winter. Louie had a thriving business producing CD's with photographs of his trips and sold them to others on his tour excursions. Lester hated the cold and opted for the Florida Keys, Mexico and the Caribbean for his diving adventures.
The brothers were avid skiers. as well, and often traveled to Louie's condominium in Winter Park, Colorado for ski trips. Life was good and Louie was making a decent side living on his dive video business.
Golf was also a passion for the brothers and they would often play golf with friends when the opportunity allowed.
In 1988 Lester went off to Australia and the brothers did not see each other for nine years until Lester moved to San Francisco in 2007.
The Loupe Brothers tours were originally golf excursions. Sometimes, the brothers would play 126 holes in four days. They played all over California, Missouri and Nevada. It became a ritual they enjoyed for several years.
Eventually, they found photography as a great way to enjoy the outdoors and share adventures with each other a few times a year.
It was on one adventure they came up with an idea for a start-up called MUMU.com. that was immediately bought out by a Chinese firm and immediately went out of business. Unfortunately, the brothers sold out for stock and were left penniless.
The went back to photography adventures in the early 2000’s and have stayed true to that mission ever since.
Now both professional photographers, they join together a few times a year to thrill fans and admirers on their excursions to remote and picturesque places.
Louie is in a band called “Ten Feet Down” and plays regularly in Kansas City.
Lester is a restaurant consultant and involved in the National Park System and The Presidio, where he lives, in San Francisco.
